The summer has been hot and busy as always here in Mallorca. We have also been gallivanting around Europe watching cars racing!
In July we flew up to Le Mans for the Classic Racing Cup, and then in August we were off to the inaugural European Formula 1 Grand Prix, held in Valencia. Fun was had at both events.
The next event is the World Rally Championship España, it is the first week of October and held near Tarragona, just south of Barcelona. The weekend is filled with flying to each stage, watching the rally then flying onto the next stage.
It is the only way to watch the entire event. A few places are still available for this event, but space is limited, so please contact Jonny if you're interested in coming along.
We have noticed the many PPL's want to either improve their knowledge or just practice some advanced flying that they haven't done for a while. With this in mind Sloane Helicopters Mallorca has devised several "Refresher Courses". They run over a 2 day period and whilst there is a couple of hours flying it will also focus on the ground training and learning side of flying.
It is a perfect way to spend a long weekend in Mallorca this winter.
This month sees the arrival of our new R44 Clipper I, G-IMMY. It is a brand new R44, and has the fixed utility floats. G-IMMY is available for training and Self Fly Hire.
This takes the Sloane Helicopters Mallorca fleet to 1 R22 Beta II and 6 R44's!
The Annual Sloane Helicopters Mallorca Fly Out is approaching. This year, to celebrate the end of the summer season, we will be flying out to San Luis in Menorca. We have arranged a restaurant to provide us with a traditional Spanish "Hog Roast" and plenty of wine on top.
We leave here in the afternoon; enjoy the festivities, over night at a hotel in the Port of Mahon, then return to Son Bonet the following afternoon. Feel free to contact Hallvar Frey, our pilot, arranging the trip for more details.
As we fly around the islands and over water it is important to remember safety, especially if the need ever arose to ditch the aircraft.
This winter Sloane Helicopters Mallorca has arranged a special course of training at Andark in Southampton. The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) is where you are dropped into a pool, in a simulated helicopter, and have to successfully extract yourself. Also included on the course is life raft inflation and entry.
For more information on the course you can see the website at http://www.andark.co.uk/site/other_training/andark_courses/huet/default.aspx.
To sign up to the course and for more information please contact Paul at info@sloanemallorca.com
