The FAA has released an Airworthiness Directive regarding Main Rotor Blade inspections on all Robinson Helicopters. The full Report (2 pages long) can be downloaded as PDF format from our website.
All pilots using Robinson Helicopters should now be taught and certified to perform a blade inspection, especially when looking for corrosion and delamination.
On every flight you will need to certify that you have inspected the blades and sign off the additional paperwork, which has been inserted into our aircraft Techlog.
To be certified to carry out the blade inspection you will need to be trained by an approved engineer. We have arranged for Heliswiss to visit us either the end of this week or next week.
We will be holding a training course for pilots, involving how to correctly sign the Techlog forms and the correct procedure for inspection of the blades.
The date will be confirmed shortly
There will be no charge for this training course.
You will be issued with a special Certificate of Competence, which you can carry in your Pilot’s Licence to say you are correctly trained.
